Ledger MarkersLedgers are thick slabs of rock, typically granite. Ledgers cover the entire grave surface. A ledger marker is set on curbing which surrounds the grave plot. Ledgers may be used alone or may be used in conjunction with headstones or other memorial objects. A ledger panel is sometimes made up of a number of smaller panels that are joined together. A ledger panel typically about 2" thick but ledgers come in a number of sizes, styles, and thicknesses. In the case of a grave site that is to be used for 2 people, the ledger panels can be made to be removable for the second burial.

Slant MarkersA slant stone is typically made of granite. The face of the slant is an angle of about 60 degrees. These markers are in the upright family of memorials. Slant markers allow more room for creative images and lettering. The top of a slant monument may be straight or creatively shaped. The front and back of the marker can be used for design. The slant marker's face is usually polished while the sides and top are usually rock pitched though they be polished. A slant may be placed on a base. Some cemeteries require a base to avoid damage by the lawn equipment. Upright markers like the slant are more commonly thought of as monuments in that there is a two piece set including the base and the upright. The slant's base gives this monument greater strength and stability.
